Foothills Children’s Advocacy Center is the only Children’s Advocacy Center in the Piedmont, providing specialized, trauma-informed services to support children and families who have experienced abuse.

FORENSIC INTERVIEWS

Foothills Children’s Advocacy Center conducts trauma-informed forensic interviews in a child-friendly environment, following a nationally recognized protocol. Specially trained interviewers engage children in structured, developmentally appropriate conversations to gather information about alleged abuse or trauma. This approach prioritizes the child’s comfort while collecting critical details for investigations.

MEDICAL SERVICES

Foothills Children’s Advocacy Center offers on-site medical examinations in partnership with UVA by professionals with advanced training in pediatrics and forensic medicine. These exams take place in a comforting, child-friendly environment, coordinated with other services to minimize stress.

The Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) case review meetings bring together professionals from law enforcement, child protective services, medical, mental health, and legal fields to collaboratively manage cases of child abuse.
